Miracle

I have so many favourite things and events this week. But the best is last night's Eucharist. Many of our brothers & sisters in the community are back ... and Kuya was

mostly quiet and well behaved! He even needs no more prompting for when to stand, sit, make sign of the Cross... and the best part, when he dances with us and claps to the beat! Felt like God was hugging me, my heart's so happy!

In this photo, before the EC started, Kuya even briefly joined Japheth and Migs... He wrote his name :)

Flashback: I would silently hurt inside when we (Benjo, Migs and I) go to church leaving Kuya at home with Mae. Because he couldn't tolerate the sensory overload (loud guitars and drum, people praying and singing in chorus) and he would run around and sing or talk loudly when everyone was quiet. I accepted that. And just offered everything to God. If it's His will, we can all go to church, as a family, together.

What a huge miracle it is. Thank you God! Thank you Kuya for being strong enough to control whatever struggles you have inside you just so you can sit still and be a good boy in not less than 2 hours! Thank you for our NC way community for being so loving to Kuya.

Happy Sunday everyone!

homework

He wrote the word BUS by himself. I dictated some of the letters of the word DRIVER. Then he copied both words to his worksheet. This is not his fave task but he's doing it :)

2 GREAT things this morning!

Kuya, after getting back from exercise called me "Mommy.... Mommy Mommy!" smiling every time I respond to him :) He seldom does this, so I'm in heaven right now!

And... it took him 8 years to completely answer this very easy question: WITHOUT PROMPT or CUE! Today, before we started our  writing exercise, I just routinely asked him "what's your name?" and he shocked me when he answered a complete, 99% clear RUJIM PAUL RULONA! (Rulona sounded like "Nulona") I was stunned!

8 Years!

Thank you Kuya's teachers, therapists and everyone involved to help him grow and live in this world in a slower and a much different style :) Thank You God for the HAPPINESS! :)

Autism - is a disorder of neural development characterized by impaired social interaction and verbal and non-verbal communication, and by restricted, repetitive or stereotyped behavior. The diagnostic criteria require that symptoms become apparent before a child is three years old.[2] Autism affects information processing in the brain by altering how nerve cells and their synapses connect and organize; how this occurs is not well understood.[3] It is one of three recognized disorders in the autism spectrum (ASDs), the other two being Asperger syndrome, which lacks delays in cognitive development and language, and pervasive developmental disorder, not otherwise specified (commonly abbreviated as PDD-NOS), which is diagnosed when the full set of criteria for autism or Asperger syndrome are not met.
